Description
GEO3tiny stands as a compact and miniature seismic digitizer, seamlessly integrating three seismic and three acceleration channels, along with three additional analog channels for seismometer mass monitoring. This digitizer is equipped with a high-resolution 24-bit capability, an embedded Linux OS, and the option of GPS or NTP timing. It ensures reliable real-time data telemetry through Seedlink and Earthworm servers, while its ample storage capacity facilitates extended local data recording. Notably, the instrument boasts minimal power consumption, allowing operation with a small 12Vdc battery and enabling burial underground due to its small size.
The analog input supports a user-configurable differential architecture and variable gain set. Three extra analog channels serve to monitor the seismometer’s mass position, while three control lines manage seismometer functions such as Lock, Unlock, and Centering. This digitizer accommodates connection to any active or passive seismometer, offering operational modes in continuous, triggered, or both, with data streamed through various ports. Users can select local data storage preferences and access logfile information.
This unit supports advanced functionality, leveraging a combination of trusted open-source software components. Its open-source architecture allows the execution of custom applications, delivering timely solutions to users. The hardware is built upon an embedded ARM9 400MHz ARM Linux board running the 14.6 Linux kernel. Data is stored in mini-SEED format on a microSD card or removable USB stick. The instrument provides a 10/100 ethernet port and debug port, with additional features such as FTP, SFTP, SSH available. The state of health is transmitted via UDP packets upon request.
